Custom website and print design for a regional arts nonprofit
I had the pleasure of collaborating with North Tahoe Arts to design and build a custom WordPress website, create a cohesive double-sided rack card, and design a bold sandwich board sign for display outside their galleries. The goal was to deliver a modern, user-friendly platform that highlights their immersive visual arts experiences, promotes local artists, and encourages community engagement.
About the Organization
North Tahoe Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Tahoe and Truckee communities. Through two gallery spaces, rotating exhibitions, community events, workshops, and youth programs, they foster cultural enrichment for both residents and visitors. The new website was designed to reflect the vibrancy of this arts-driven, outdoor-oriented community while supporting ease of access for artists, families, and arts supporters alike.
Creating a Website with Community and Creativity in Mind
The redesigned website includes a wide range of custom layouts — from program and event pages to artist portfolios and organizational storytelling. Clear pathways to membership and donation help drive engagement, while the responsive design ensures a seamless experience across devices.
To support visual consistency across platforms, I developed a custom website colour palette based on North Tahoe Arts’ existing three-colour logo. The expanded palette balances vibrancy and accessibility, using WCAG-aligned contrast guidelines to ensure the site remains welcoming and readable for all users. These colours were outlined in a digital style guide and curated artist imagery was used across the site to reinforce the organization’s mission and sense of place.
Accessibility best practices and essential SEO were implemented to support both inclusion and discoverability in local and regional search. The site is built on a flexible WordPress framework, allowing the NTA team to update content and promote ongoing programming with confidence.
